Idea:
-----
APEX is a very unoriginal idea I had. Even the name isn't mine. But,
what you do with APEX is very simple. APEX is a program that makes it
look like you are dialing into the NORAD central computer and hacking
around. If you are smart enough, you will get to the missle silo map
and be able to launch off a few. This program is designed to worry
onlookers. Say for instance you know people will be entering the room
in a few moments. You fire up this program. The people come in and ask
"What are you doing?" You reply "Just using the modem." This will keep
their eyes on the screen. They will see you playing, and get very worried
after they see that you know all sorts of codes for "Government Defense."
What you need to know:
----------------------
When you start off, you can only press F1, F2, and F10. Their
functions are displayed at the bottom of the screen. Just go along with
it as if it were a normal terminal program. It will then prompt you for
a 7 digit code. Just type in something convincing like: POLARIS, CRIMSON,
LANGELY, SUBPACK, HILLTOP, and so on. Try to use similar phrases often.
Then it will display another code prompt. Requiring 6 digits. You will
have to type it twice. No matter what you type, as long as it's 6 digits,
will work. I use: LYCOS1, BIGBOY, FILTER, and so on. Then, it will prompt
you for your security level code. Just type something else convincing.
Anything works on this one. Once you're in, the screen colors change. You
can type absolutely anything. Make it convincing. Whatever you type, it
will ask you for a code. Just type something else. The only words that do
anything are:
_LANGELY
| |_DISP
| | |_MAP
| | |_RETURN
| |_LAUNCH
| |_RETURN
|
|_DISP
| |_MAP
| |_RETURN
|_LOGOFF
Have Fun!
Just press ESC and continue with installation.
